One of our customer favorites is our Superfood Hot Cocoa. While it’s certainly delicious as a simple hot cocoa mix, we wanted to shed some light on this product’s versatility for a moment. If you’ve ever wondered what else you can mix up with this delicious and nutritious blend, read below to hear some of our favorite ways to get creative with our Superfood Hot Cocoa, highlighting a delicious Superfood Hot Cocoa Brownie recipe.
If you haven’t heard of this product or maybe you’ve been wanting to try it, here’s a bit more about it:
Juniper’s Superfood Hot Cocoa is a yummy hot cocoa powder featuring golden turmeric, maca powder, cinnamon, and raw cacao. These ingredients have been carefully sourced from ethical and environmentally conscious producers.
Golden turmeric, maca powder, cinnamon, and raw cacao all hold powerful properties. However, keep in mind what we said in our other blog post titled “Culinary Apothecary”, that everybody is different and every body is different and what works for some may not work for others. For example, some of these have immune supporting properties and that isn’t always helpful for people with autoimmune diseases. Overall, these ingredients are known for being good for stomach support, joint and mobility support, mood lifters and sources of iron. This can play a role in helping with anxiety, sleep, and cold recovery, along with digestion, and other things. Play around and do your own research and see if these ingredients resonate with you. We also suggest checking with your doctor or a clinical herbalist whenever you change your diet or add in herbal ingredients.
Now, to the fun part. Time to make Superfood Hot Cocoa brownies! Before you get started, you’ll need:
- ½ cup Superfood Hot Cocoa powder
- 2 cups sugar
- ½ cup flour (can use gluten free flour if desired)
- 1 cup butter (can use vegan butter if desired)
- 4 eggs (can use aquafaba or chia seed substitute if desired)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- Once you’ve gathered your ingredients, preheat your oven to 350 degrees and prepare a 9x13-inch pan with butter. Use just enough to create a thin non-stick layer to the pan.
- Then, melt your butter or vegan butter and mix all your ingredients together and add them to the pan that you’ve prepared.
- Finally, bake for about 25 minutes or until desired gooey/crunchy-ness. You can top it off with nuts or leave as is. They’ll be delicious Superfood Hot Cocoa brownies either way!
If brownies aren’t your thing, you can also use this blend to make cookies, or any other sweets that require cocoa powder. We also like to use it in oatmeal or chia seed pudding to add some chocolatey yumminess to our morning meals. Or, if you’re looking for something more along the lines of a refreshing drink, we recommend using it to make an iced or hot mocha, or even putting it in smoothies. You can also try it in an espresso martini or a festive wintery drink with some Bailey’s. This blend is versatile and adds the perfect amount of sweetness and warmth to your bakes and brews.
